ChatGPT Prompt for Character Sheet: 12 Prompts for Writers

A ChatGPT prompt for character sheet work gives writers and artists one shared page for the same character: who they are, how they talk, and what they look like. The 12 prompts below build that sheet piece by piece. Use them for original characters only, and fill in each [variable] with your own story details.

2. Identity block

3. Inner engine

Give [name] a want, need, fear, flaw, and one secret that all connect to their role as [role in story].

4. Backstory in five beats

Find the voice

5. Speech habits

6. Dialogue test

7. Relationship map

Lock the look

8. Look lock list

Turn these details [look details] into a numbered look lock with silhouette, build, a 4 color palette with hex codes, outfit layers, and props.

9. Turnaround art prompt

Write an image prompt for a front, three-quarter, side, and back turnaround of [name] using only this look lock [paste], on a plain background.

10. Expression row

Keep it consistent

11. Continuity rules

Write five rules that keep [name]'s look and voice the same across chapters and images.

12. Sheet audit

Here is my draft [paste chapter or image notes]. Check it against this sheet [paste] and list every detail that drifted.

Use the full character sheet prompt

The flagship Character Sheet Prompt: Story Profile and Art Reference Lock builds the whole sheet from one brief, including a turnaround art prompt and continuity rules. Its example creates Wren Okafor, a sky island lighthouse mechanic with a brass prosthetic hand.
