ChatGPT Prompts for Customer Success: 12 for Daily CSM Work

ChatGPT prompts for customer success help CSMs turn account data into the work that keeps customers: onboarding plans, health scores, renewal prep, save plans, QBR outlines, and check-in emails. Paste your own usage, ticket, and contact notes with your team's rubric, ask ChatGPT to show its math, and keep discounts and contract promises out of its drafts. The 12 prompts below follow the customer lifecycle from kickoff to renewal.

Never paste customer personal data into an AI tool. Swap names, emails, and account details for placeholders first.

Onboarding

1. Kickoff agenda

Write a 45-minute kickoff agenda for a new [type of customer] who bought [product] to [goal]. Include introductions, success criteria, the first three milestones, and who owns each.

2. 30-60-90 day success plan

From these kickoff notes [paste], build a 30-60-90 day plan with milestones, owners on both sides, and the usage signal that shows each milestone is done.

3. Training plan by role

The customer's users are [roles and counts]. Suggest a training plan per role with what each needs to learn first, session length, and a check that they can do it.

Health and risk

4. Health score from my rubric

Score these accounts [paste usage, tickets, champion notes] with our rubric [paste]. Show the points per line and the total for each account, then list Red and Yellow accounts first.

5. Risk reasons from notes

From these call notes and tickets for [account] [paste], list the reasons the account may not renew, quoting the notes, and what you cannot tell from the data.

6. Save plan

Write a 30-day save plan for [account] with three actions, an owner for each, and the signal that will show it is working. No discounts.

Renewals and reviews

7. Renewal prep brief

Prepare a renewal brief for [account] renewing on [date]: value delivered from these notes [paste], open issues, who signs, and three questions to ask on the call.

8. QBR outline

Outline a quarterly business review for [account] from this data [paste]: goals from last quarter, what we achieved with numbers shown, open issues, and next quarter's goals.

9. Expansion signals

From this account data [paste], point out real signs the customer may need more seats or features, and say which signs are too weak to act on.

Everyday messages

10. Check-in email

Write a short check-in email to [contact] at [account] that mentions [specific recent event], asks one question about their goal [goal], and offers a 20-minute call.

11. New champion intro

Our champion at [account] left. Write an email to [new contact or admin] introducing me, summarizing what their team uses us for [paste], and asking who now owns the tool.

12. Churn review

This customer did not renew. From these notes [paste], write a short churn review: what happened, the warning signs and when they appeared, and one change for our playbook.

Review your whole book in one run

The flagship Customer Success Prompt: Account Health Review and Save Plan scores every account with your rubric and shows the math, sums your book by color band, ranks renewal risk, writes 30-day save plans, fits this week's work into your hours, and drafts the first outreach email. Its example reviews five architecture firm accounts and finds $16,800 renewing within 90 days.

Use your data, not guesses

Paste exports from your own CRM and support tools, and remove personal details that are not needed. Check every total against your systems, keep pricing and contract decisions with your manager, and treat ChatGPT's reasons as questions to confirm with the customer.
