Prompt

Act as a job search researcher who uses Perplexity's cited web search to find real openings, check them against my must-haves and prepare a short dossier on each employer. Every job, salary and company fact you give me must come with its source link, because I will apply only after checking the posting on the employer's own careers page.

Inputs:
- The role I want, with my level and core skills: [TargetRole]
- Where I can work (cities, remote, hybrid limits, time zones): [WorkLocation]
- Non-negotiables such as salary floor, office days, visa or no relocation: [MustHaves]
- Industries I prefer and any I want to avoid: [Industries]
- Companies I already want to check: [TargetCompanies]
- Postings I already found, pasted with where I saw them: [ShortlistNotes]
- Today's date and how recent a posting must be: [DateWindow]

Generate:
1. Job search query plan: 6 to 8 searches I can run in Perplexity, mixing role titles, synonyms, WorkLocation and TargetCompanies, each with what it should find.
2. Openings table: for each job posting found or listed in ShortlistNotes, the company, job title, location and office days, salary if posted, posting date, and the source link. Write "not stated" when the posting leaves a field out, and never fill it in yourself.
3. Fit check: score each opening against every item in MustHaves as meets, misses or unknown, and say what to ask the recruiter for each unknown.
4. Freshness check: flag openings older than DateWindow or found only on a job board, and tell me to confirm them on the employer's careers page.
5. Job scam check: flag any posting with common scam signs, such as paying for equipment or training, interviews held only by text chat, or requests for bank or ID details before an offer.
6. Company dossier for the top 2 openings: what the company does, recent news with dates and sources, and 3 interview questions the news suggests. Tell me which dossier to run in Research mode for a deeper cited report.
7. Weekly job search routine: how to save these instructions in a Perplexity Project (the newer name for Spaces) and rerun the openings table each week.

Rules: never invent openings, salaries, people or news. If a search finds nothing within DateWindow, say so. Separate what a source says from your own judgment. This is research help, not career, legal or immigration advice.

Instructions

Fill in MustHaves with real numbers, such as your salary floor and office day limit, so the fit check can say meets or misses. Variation: swap TargetRole for an internship or a career change role and add the skills you are moving across. Tip: open every source link before you apply and apply on the employer's own site. This is research help, not career, legal or immigration advice.

Examples

Example Input

TargetRole: product analyst, 3 years of experience, SQL, Tableau, A/B test analysis.
WorkLocation: Denver, Colorado, or remote within the US. Hybrid is fine up to 2 office days a week.
MustHaves: salary at least $85,000, no relocation, no more than 2 office days.
Industries: health tech or logistics; avoid tobacco and crypto.
TargetCompanies: Peakline Health, Trailhead Freight.
ShortlistNotes:
1) Peakline Health, Product Analyst II, Denver hybrid 3 days a week, $88,000 to $102,000, posted October 28 on their careers page.
2) Trailhead Freight, Senior Data Analyst, remote US, salary not listed, posted October 12, seen on a job board only.
3) Nova Data Solutions, Product Analyst, remote, $95 an hour. The recruiter messaged me first, wants to interview by text chat only and asked me to buy a laptop through their vendor before starting.
DateWindow: today is November 2; postings from the last 14 days.

Example Output

1. JOB SEARCH QUERY PLAN
1) "product analyst" Denver hybrid SQL Tableau, past 14 days: new local openings.
2) "product analyst" remote United States health tech: remote openings in your main industry.
3) "data analyst" OR "product data analyst" logistics remote: synonym titles in logistics.
4) Peakline Health careers analyst: every open analyst role at Peakline.
5) Trailhead Freight careers data analyst: whether the October 12 role is still on Trailhead's own site.
6) "product analyst" "A/B testing" health tech salary range posted: roles that list pay up front.
I will exclude tobacco and crypto employers from every search.

2. OPENINGS TABLE (from your ShortlistNotes; no new search results shown here)
| Company | Title | Location and office days | Salary | Posted | Source |
| Peakline Health | Product Analyst II | Denver, hybrid 3 days | $88,000 to $102,000 | October 28 | Peakline careers page |
| Trailhead Freight | Senior Data Analyst | Remote US | not stated | October 12 | job board only |
| Nova Data Solutions | Product Analyst | Remote | $95 an hour | not stated | recruiter message |

3. FIT CHECK
Peakline Health: salary meets ($88,000 floor is above $85,000); no relocation meets; office days misses (3 against your limit of 2). Ask the recruiter: "Is 2 office days possible for this role?"
Trailhead Freight: salary unknown; no relocation meets; office days meets. Ask: "What is the salary range for this role?"
Nova Data Solutions: see the scam check before doing anything else.

4. FRESHNESS CHECK
Trailhead Freight was posted 21 days ago, outside your 14 day window, and you saw it only on a job board. Search Trailhead's careers page (query 5) and apply there only if the role is still listed.

5. JOB SCAM CHECK
Nova Data Solutions shows three common scam signs: an unsolicited recruiter message, interviews by text chat only, and a request to buy equipment through their vendor before you start. Do not pay for anything or share bank or ID details. Look for the company and the role on an official company website before you reply.

6. COMPANY DOSSIERS
Run these two in Research mode; I have not searched yet, so there is no news to report.
Peakline Health: what products they sell and to whom, news from the last 12 months with dates, how the analyst team is described in their own postings. Interview questions to prepare once the report is in: one about a recent product launch, one about how they measure it, one about their data stack.
Trailhead Freight: same structure, plus whether the Senior Data Analyst role appears on their careers page today.

7. WEEKLY JOB SEARCH ROUTINE
Create a Project called "Job search: product analyst" and paste these instructions into its settings. Each Monday, run queries 1 to 6, ask for the openings table again, and add new rows only if each has a source link dated within 14 days.
