Prompt

Act as a fantasy concept artist who designs original characters for books, games, and tabletop campaigns, starting from ancestry, class, and setting, and ends with an image prompt an AI art tool can render.

Inputs:
- Ancestry or race, including anything unique to my setting: [Ancestry]
- Class, job, or fighting style: [CharacterClass]
- Their role in the story and one personality trait: [StoryRole]
- World details: climate, technology level, culture: [Setting]
- Colors I want, or a mood if I have none: [Palette]
- Art tool, framing, and aspect ratio: [ArtTool]
- Things to avoid (tropes, features, franchise looks): [AvoidList]

Generate:
1. Concept line: one sentence that joins Ancestry, CharacterClass, and StoryRole into a character someone could pitch.
2. Silhouette: body shape, posture, and one readable shape idea that makes the character recognizable in shadow, shaped by Ancestry and Setting.
3. Costume and gear: clothing layers, materials, and tools that come from CharacterClass and the Setting's climate and technology, with signs of wear that hint at their history.
4. Palette: three to five named colors from Palette, where each one goes, and one accent color used sparingly.
5. Signature details: three small, specific details (an object, a scar, a habit) that tie to StoryRole.
6. Final image prompt for ArtTool: one paragraph with subject, pose, costume, palette, setting background, lighting, camera framing, and aspect ratio.
7. Two variation prompts: an action pose and a quiet portrait, keeping the same design.
8. Originality check: list anything in the design that is close to a well-known franchise character or AvoidList, and the change that fixes it.

Rules:
- Keep the character original. Do not name or copy existing franchise characters, studio styles, or living artists.
- Every costume and gear choice should have a reason from the Setting or CharacterClass.
- If Ancestry is unique to my world, ask one question about it before inventing traits.

Instructions

Fill in your ancestry, class, story role, setting, palette, and art tool, then paste the final image prompt into your image generator. Ask for changes to one section at a time. Keep characters original: no franchise characters, studio styles, or living artists' names. Do not base characters on copyrighted franchises or existing named characters.

Examples

Example Input

Ancestry: river elf from my own setting; they live on houseboats in a swamp delta and have webbed fingers and gill slits behind the jaw
CharacterClass: alchemist and field healer
StoryRole: reluctant guide who leads outsiders through the delta; dry sense of humor
Setting: Fenmarch delta, hot and humid, lantern light, early gunpowder era, trade barges
Palette: moss green, copper, faded indigo
ArtTool: ChatGPT image generation, full body, 16:9 wide frame
AvoidList: no glowing eyes, no heavy plate armor

Example Output

1. CONCEPT LINE
A web-fingered river elf alchemist who patches up travelers for coin, and guides them through the Fenmarch delta only because no one else knows the safe channels.

2. SILHOUETTE
Lean and slightly stooped from years of ducking under barge roofs. The readable shape is a wide, shallow cone reed hat over a narrow body, with a tall pole held at a slant. Gill slits sit behind the jaw, so the collar is cut low on the sides.

3. COSTUME AND GEAR
- Sleeveless linen tunic in faded indigo, sweat-stained at the collar, because the delta is hot.
- Waxed copper-brown apron with many small pockets for vials; scorch marks near the hem from early gunpowder reagents.
- Wide reed hat with a lantern hook on the brim for night channels.
- Barefoot with wrapped ankles, so webbed toes grip wet decks.
- Long punting pole with depth notches carved into it.
- Bandolier of corked glass vials, two cracked and wrapped in twine.

4. PALETTE
Moss green: hat band, satchel, and the swamp background. Faded indigo: tunic. Copper: apron, vial caps, lantern. Accent: a small spot of warm lantern orange, used only on the lit lantern.

5. SIGNATURE DETAILS
- A notched pole that doubles as a map of channel depths, fitting the guide role.
- One copper vial worn on a cord around the neck that they never open (a story hook).
- A half-smile and a raised eyebrow, matching the dry humor.

6. FINAL IMAGE PROMPT (ChatGPT image generation)
Full-body, wide 16:9 frame. An original river elf alchemist and field healer standing on the deck of a wooden houseboat in a misty swamp delta at dusk. Lean, slightly stooped, webbed fingers and small gill slits behind the jaw, long swept-back ears. Wide shallow cone reed hat with a lantern hanging from the brim, sleeveless faded indigo linen tunic, waxed copper-brown apron with small pockets and scorch marks, bandolier of corked glass vials, wrapped ankles, bare webbed feet. Holding a long notched punting pole at a slant. Moss green and copper palette with one warm lantern glow. Soft humid haze, reeds and trade barges in the background. Dry half-smile. Detailed, cinematic lighting, no text, no logos.

7. VARIATIONS
Action pose: same character pushing the punting pole hard through dark water, vials swinging, lantern light streaking across reeds.
Quiet portrait: chest-up, mixing a remedy in a copper bowl at a small table inside the houseboat, lantern light on one side of the face.

8. ORIGINALITY CHECK
- Glowing eyes avoided: natural eyes, lit only by the lantern.
- Plate armor avoided: linen, wax, and reed only.
- A wide hat and pole can read like a generic ferryman; the gill slits, vial bandolier, and copper apron keep it specific to this character.
