ChatGPT Prompts for Photographers: 12 for Client Work

ChatGPT prompts for photographers are for the business side of the job: replying to inquiries, recommending the right package with the price math shown, writing shoot briefs and timed shot lists, sending prep emails, and delivering galleries. You paste the client's message and your own price list and policies, and the model drafts; you read every email before it goes out and keep prices exactly as your price list says. Here are 12 copy-paste prompts grouped by stage of a booking, plus a flagship prompt that turns one inquiry into a booked, planned shoot.

These prompts plan and write. They do not edit your photos. Share client images or names in your portfolio or on social media only after the client agrees in writing.

Prompts for inquiries and booking

1. Inquiry reply

Reply to this inquiry: [client message]. Under 150 words: thank them, answer their questions, recommend one package from [packages and prices] with the math shown, and end with one clear next step.

2. Package comparison

The client wants [what they asked for] with a budget of about [budget]. Compare the packages that fit from [price list], with totals and retainers, and say plainly which one is over budget.

3. Questions before booking

For a [shoot type] inquiry like this: [message], list the questions I should ask before I quote: location, timing, number of people, usage, and anything else my price list depends on.

4. Follow-up when they go quiet

I sent a quote for [package] on [date] and have not heard back. Write a short, friendly follow-up that restates the date I am holding and when I will release it, based on my policy: [policy].

Prompts for planning the shoot

5. Shoot brief

Write a one-page shoot brief for [client] from these notes: [notes]. Include the goal, where the photos will be used, location and light plan, wardrobe and props, and what the client prepares.

6. Timed shot list

Make a shot list for a [length] [shoot type] starting at [time]: setups in order with start and end times that add up to the session length, and the must-have shots in each: [must-haves].

7. Wedding or event timeline

From this day-of schedule: [schedule], build my photo timeline with buffers, the family formal groupings the couple listed: [groupings], and where I need a second shooter.

8. Location scout notes

Turn my scout notes for [location]: [notes] into a list of spots, the time of day each works best based on my notes, and backup options if it rains.

Prompts for clients before and after

9. Prep email

Write the email I send one week before a [shoot type] for [client]: what to wear, what to prepare, start time and address, and my reschedule policy: [policy].

10. Gallery delivery note

Write a gallery delivery message for [client]: how to download web-size and full-resolution files, how long the gallery stays open: [time], and how my portfolio consent works: [policy].

11. Review request

Write a short note asking [client] for a review on [platform] two weeks after delivery. Mention one specific moment from their session: [detail]. No incentive offered for the review.

Prompts for your own marketing

12. Caption for your own post

Write two captions for a post sharing [client]'s session, using only these details: [details]. I have their written consent to share. At most three relevant hashtags.

Turn one inquiry into a planned shoot

The Photographer Prompt: Inquiry to Shoot Brief and Shot List combines prompts 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 12. Paste the client's inquiry, the shoot type, your packages and add-ons, location and dates, must-have shots, deliverables, and policies. It returns an inquiry reply, a package comparison with retainer math, a shoot brief, a timed shot list that adds up, a prep email, a delivery note, and a caption marked for use only after written consent. The example books a 90 minute brand session for a pottery studio and works out that the mini package plus 15 extra images comes to 1,025.

Tips for photographers using ChatGPT

  • Paste your price list into every pricing prompt so totals always match it.
  • Check that shot list times add up before you send the timeline.
  • Keep client names out of prompts when you do not need them.
  • Save your best replies as templates and reuse them.
